Help the Parental Bereavement Bill Become Law

Earlier this year the Parental Bereavement (Pay and Leave) Bill was introduced to Parliament. The bill aims to address the issue that there is currently no legal requirement for an employer or workplace to grant bereaved parents of children under the age of 18 any formal and paid compassionate leave.

The first debate for this bill is scheduled in Parliament this Friday and we are asking as many people to write to their MP’s as possible, requesting them to attend this debate. The more who attend the debate and the more likely it will be that this will become law by 2020.

Here at COSMIC, we know just how difficult it can be for bereaved parents to get back into the workplace and how this very particular and devastating kind of loss needs time and work to overcome. We believe that supporting this bill is so important for not only future families from our Unit, but for families across the UK.
